| | Breaking Updates | | NASA Asked to Help Search for... Wait, the Loch Ness Monster? | NASA has been asked to help in a new search for the Loch Ness monster. The Loch Ness Centre has urged the space agency to lend its expertise in a fresh hunt for the legendary creature. Last year, one of the biggest searches of Loch Ness in the Highlands concluded with a hydrophone capturing loud underwater noises and several potential sightings.
The Loch Ness Centre is located at the old Drumnadrochit Hotel, where it is said manageress Aldie Mackay reported seeing a "water beast" in Loch Ness 90 years ago. General manager Paul Nixon said: "Last year, we captured the world's attention with one of the biggest-ever searches for Nessie, with participants joining us from America, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and more.
When asked how NASA could help, she explained: "Experts from NASA might have some advanced imaging technology to scan the loch. We would have to sit down and talk to them about how to get it here."
They hope that the space agency, and other experts, can help them in their latest search, which goes down on the 90th anniversary of the first-ever organized surface watch of Loch Ness.
Monster hunters will also be searching for the creature via boat and by using a 60-foot hydrophone to listen for mysterious sounds pinging up from the bottom of the Loch. Nessie trackers who can't get to the lock can still search remotely with the live cameras on the Visit Inverness Loch Ness website.
Ultimately, the org hopes that NASA and can lend their expertise — and perhaps some legitimacy — to the oft-mocked search for Nessie. | Read more updates here |

| | Iran Notified Turkey in Advance of Attack on Israel | On Sunday, a Turkish diplomatic source revealed to the Reuters News Service that Iran had informed Ankara in advance of their plans to launch an attack on Israel. Turkey, which has denounced Israel for its campaign on Gaza, said earlier on Sunday that it did not want a further escalation of tensions in the region.
The Turkish source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had spoken to both his US and Iranian counterparts in the past week to discuss the planned Iranian operation, adding Ankara had been made aware of possible developments.
Earlier this week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke to Fidan to make clear that escalation in the Middle East was not in anyone's interest. "Iran informed us in advance of what would happen. Possible developments also came up during the meeting with Blinken, and they (the US) conveyed to Iran through us that this reaction must be within certain limits," the source said.
Iran, which neighbours Turkey, had vowed retaliation for what it called an alleged Israeli strike on its Damascus consulate on April 1 that killed seven officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Turkey's foreign ministry later confirmed the contacts in a statement, saying Ankara had called for restraint and warned of a regional war if tensions escalated further.
It said Ankara would continue efforts to prevent further conflict and escalation in the region. | Read more updates here |
