Article Icon 1Trump, Harris Rally in Texas

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris were in Texas Friday, with the election just over a week away.

Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale hosted a Trump rally at his Gallery Furniture store in Houston, dueling with Houston-native Beyonce's appearance at a Harris rally in the same city.

Meanwhile, Trump spent the day in Austin, making remarks on border security before sitting for an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan. The Former President's presence spurred road closures in South Austin.

Harris' and Trump's appearances in the state is largely seen as an effort to boost their party's candidate in the Senate race between Rep. Colin Allred (D) and incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R), as polls currently give Trump a comfortable 6-point lead in the state.

Article Icon 1Texas No. 1 in Job Creation

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report this week saying that Texas led the U.S. in job creation over the past year, adding 327,400 jobs.

Texas' job growth broke its previous employment records and far outpaced the next highest job-generating states: California, adding 265,300 more jobs; and Florida, adding 204,700 more jobs.

Gov. Greg Abbott called Texas "America's job engine" in a statement, saying that "America's leading businesses are fleeing the stranglehold of over-regulation in other states" and coming to Texas.

Texas has added 2.4 million jobs with Abbott as governor.

Texas Monthly has released its list of the 50 best tacos and taquerias in Texas, based on the 14,000-mile search by the publication's award-winning taco editor José R. Ralat.

Ana Liz Taqueria in Mission took the top spot with its chile relleno standing out among its fare.

El Paso's Elemi was second, noted for its conejito pibil, and Azteca Taco House in Houston impressed Ralat with its costillas en salsa verde.

Three El Paso taco joints made the top ten. You can see more about Texas' best tacos here.
