Trump Drafts Oz and Lutnick for Cabinet

President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday nominated Dr. Mehmet Oz to oversee federal health insurance programs and Wall Street executive Howard Lutnick as commerce secretary.

Surgeon and TV personality Dr. Oz, a former Pennsylvania Senate candidate, has been nominated to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Trump announced Oz would collaborate closely with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., his nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Lutnick is the CEO of investment firm Cantor Fitzgerald and has been serving as co-chair of the Trump transition team alongside Trump's former Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon.

FEMA Denies Anti-Trump Policy

FEMA Director Deanne Criswell appeared before House lawmakers on Tuesday and called for an investigation into why workers avoided homes of Trump supporters during Hurricane Milton relief efforts.

The House subcommittee questioned Criswell over claims that at least one senior FEMA official allegedly directed staffers to avoid homes displaying pro-Trump signs during relief efforts.

Criswell disputed claims that FEMA had a widespread policy to avoid pro-Trump homes, stating it was the isolated action of one employee who has since been terminated. She vowed to ask the Inspector General's office to investigate.

In a Monday interview, fired FEMA employee Marn'i Washington claimed she was being framed, insisting she followed orders and did not create agency policy.

Congress Readies Battle Over Bathrooms

Rep. Nancy Mace announced plans Tuesday to introduce legislation banning biological men from using women's restrooms and changing rooms in federal buildings and schools.

The proposed legislation coincides with Rep.-elect Sarah McBride preparing to be sworn in as the first representative who was born male but now identifies as a woman to serve in Congress.

Mace, the first female graduate of The Citadel, argued that allowing biological men who identify as transgender women into women's restrooms and locker rooms threatens the safety and dignity of female lawmakers, officers, and Capitol Hill employees.

House Speaker Mike Johnson called for treating all individuals with dignity and respect while supporting Mace's proposed legislation, stating men don't belong in women's bathrooms.
