Gen. Dan "Razin" Caine as his replacement. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in a statement that both Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Jim Slife and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa M. Franchetti, the first woman to be on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have also been fired. The Secretary of Defense previously said that Brown should be fired along with all other generals "involved" with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. Prior to his appointment, Brown served as the 22nd chief of staff of the Air Force from 2020 to 2023. He logged more than 3,000 flight hours as a fighter pilot, including 130 hours in combat. | Pentagon, FBI Plan Major Personnel Moves The Defense Department said Friday that it will cut 5,400 probationary workers starting next week and put a hiring freeze in place. The DoD is the largest government agency, with more than 700,000 full-time civilian workers. The cuts will not include uniformed military personnel, who are exempt. FBI Director Kash Patel plans to relocate up to 1,000 employees from Washington to field offices around the country and move an additional 500 to a large bureau facility in Huntsville, Alabama. During the first month of Trump's second term, at least 75 career FBI officials and Department of Justice lawyers have either been fired, resigned, or stripped of their positions. | Pope Francis in Critical Condition Pope Francis suffered a prolonged asthmatic respiratory crisis on Saturday, and he received "high flows" of oxygen and blood transfusions, according to the Vatican. Before the respiratory complication, he was being treated for pneumonia and a complex lung infection. A statement described his condition as "critical" and said he "continues to be alert and spent the day in an armchair although in more pain than yesterday." Sepsis is the primary concern for the 88-year-old pope, his medical team says, but there is no sign of it yet. Francis has chronic lung disease and if often afflicted with bronchitis in the winter, which was the original reason for his hospitalization on Feb 14th. Enjoy reading The Flyover?
