Both were found dead, alongside one of their dogs, at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Wednesday. Hackman is believed to have died on Feb. 17. Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office authorities indicated that was the date of the last recorded "event" on his pacemaker. The two were found in separate rooms. Hackman, 95, had lived in Santa Fe since the 1980s and married Arakawa, a classical pianist, 65, in 1991. Hackman, who retired in the early 2000s after a decades-long career that included roles as villains, heroes, and antiheroes, kept a low profile in the Rocky Mountain foothills town, long known as a refuge for famous actors and authors seeking to escape the spotlight. | Social Security to Trim 7,000 Workers The Social Security Administration announced plans on Friday to cut 7,000 workers as part of the Trump administration's effort to slash the size of the federal workforce. The U.S. government agency, which sends checks to 73 million retired and disabled Americans each month, said the 12 percent reduction would trim staffing to 50,000 workers. The agency's workforce cuts come as the ranks of Americans receiving Social Security benefits have swelled to an all-time high, largely due to the aging baby boomer population.
