There's nothing more gratifying than seeing how much our work matters.   Planned Parenthood just announced plans to close more than a third of its centers across Minnesota and Iowa.   Wow! This is exciting news!   And guess what reason they gave for closing these centers down?   According to Axios, the regional leaders of Planned Parenthood cited looming federal funding cuts coming their way courtesy of the "big, beautiful bill." You helped make this happen. By joining the effort to get President Trump's budget blueprint through Congress, sending more than 26,000 messages to Capitol Hill, our CatholicVote community helped to put Planned Parenthood on notice. They've been told in no uncertain terms: We don't want our tax dollars to fund the slaughter of babies in the womb. Photo by Infrogmation, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons, edited As the debate over the President's budget blueprint continues in the Senate, let's keep in mind that life remains the preeminent issue of our time: That's why we'll keep pushing to see the "big, beautiful bill" and the defunding of Planned Parenthood move forward. That's why we just signed a coalition letter requesting an investigation into suspected violations of the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act. Are there other important issues to address? Of course. And we'll keep fighting for education choice and tax cuts for families.    But they all take a back seat to the fundamental right to life.   I'm reminded of the words of a great champion of the unborn – the late Congressman Henry Hyde of Illinois – when he said this about the final judgement:   "I've often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God – and a terror will rip your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there'll be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world – and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, 'Spare him, because he loved us!'"   It's amazing to contemplate the impact of our work… in this world and perhaps the next.   Josh Mercer   P.S.
