Trump Says Iran Bombed Its Own Girls' School

President Trump said Saturday he believes the deadly bombing of an Iranian girls' elementary school was "done by Iran," not coalition forces, calling Iran's munitions "very inaccurate."

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon is still investigating but added that "the only side that targets civilians is Iran." Iranian officials say the Feb. 28 blast at the school in Minab killed more than 170 people. Satellite images showed the school was located in close proximity to two sites controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iranian state media confirmed on Sunday that Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, has been selected as the country’s new supreme leader by the Assembly of Experts, just eight days after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in U.S.-Israeli strikes.

The Pentagon is also weighing plans to deploy special operations teams to seize Iran's nuclear stockpile, a move that would mark a major escalation as the conflict enters its 10th day.

Explosion Hits U.S. Embassy in Oslo

An explosion rocked the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, around 1 a.m. local time Sunday, damaging the entrance to the consular section and sending a thick cloud of smoke over the surrounding neighborhood.

No one was injured, but Norwegian police said the blast appears to have been a deliberate attack and are not ruling out terrorism.

Investigators deployed dogs, drones, and a helicopter to search for one or more suspects, though no arrests have been made. Nearby residents described hearing a loud bang that shook their homes.

Police said it was natural to view the incident in the context of the current security situation, with U.S. diplomatic posts around the world on heightened alert during the Iran conflict. Multiple American embassies in Gulf states have already been hit by Iranian retaliatory strikes in recent days.

Man Swallows $19K Fabergé Egg

A New Zealand man accused of swallowing a $19,000 Fabergé pendant at an Auckland jewelry store is awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to theft charges late last year, capping one of the stranger crime stories in recent memory.

The 32-year-old walked into Partridge Jewellers last fall, picked up a limited-edition locket inspired by the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy, and swallowed it whole, chain and all.

The piece was crafted from 18-karat yellow gold, painted with green guilloché enamel, and set with 60 white diamonds and 15 blue sapphires. It opens to reveal a tiny gold octopus with black diamond eyes. See the egg here.

Police arrested the man inside the store within minutes, then stationed an officer next to him around the clock for six straight days until the pendant naturally made its exit, price tag still attached.
