Article Icon 1Power Outages around the State

Thousands of North Texas residents woke up without power on Saturday as a winter storm moved through the region.

More than 14,000 North Texas homes lost power during the storm, prompting Oncor to deploy about 10,000 personnel and contractors to address weather-related outages.

Nearly 36,000 lost power in East Texas. See which counties were the most impacted by the storm here. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas also offers a real-time look at power usage here.

Much of the state will be experiencing freezing temperatures and precipitation through the weekend and into Monday.

Article Icon 1Rep. Cuellar's Brother Indicted

Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar Jr., brother of Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar, was indicted for allegedly using public funds, staff, and resources to support a disinfecting business during COVID-19.

According to the indictment, Cuellar Jr. and his assistant Alejandro Gutierrez started Disinfect Pro Master in April 2020 and secured several contracts, though they had no employees or supplies.

The company secured a $500,000 contract to clean Laredo-area schools, but used department staff and resources to complete the work. Cuellar faces up to 10 years in prison for charges related to conspiracy and theft of federal funds, and 10 more for money laundering.

The indictment comes two months after U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar and his wife received a presidential pardon for their federal bribery charges.

Article Icon 1Astros FanFest 2026

The Houston Astros officially kicked off the 2026 season with FanFest on Saturday, despite the threat of poor weather.

Fans met current and retired players, got autographs, and had the chance to see the World Series and American League Championship Series trophies. Other activities included walking the bases, taking swings in a batting cage, and throwing in the bullpen.

Many current Astros were present, including second baseman Jose Altuve, outfielder Yordan Alvarez, and third baseman Carlos Correa. Some players, like Isaac Paredes and Christian Walker, weren’t at FanFest, as both players are likely to be traded to other teams.

The Texas Rangers also scheduled their FanFest for Saturday, but cancelled the event due to the weather.

A Different Message for Texas Readers

Time is short.

This isn't a typical Flyover announcement. This one is about Texas.

We didn't launch state editions everywhere. We launched Texas first — on purpose.

Because Texas is different.

Texans are independent, proud, and practical. We don't want to be talked down to or spoon-fed an agenda from legacy, big-city media. We want facts, context, and common sense — and news media that actually understands this state, from Galveston to Amarillo, El Paso to Marble Falls, Midland to San Marcos, Round Rock to Fort Worth.

That's why we built The Texas Flyover.

Built by Texans. For Texans.

Our founder, Guy Short, isn't just building media in Texas — he lives here, in Llano County. Texas isn't a market. It's home.

And because Texas matters, we've invested heavily here.

Since opening our investment round and inviting readers to become owners:

  • The Texas Flyover has grown to 415,000+ readers
  • It's now our largest and most impactful state edition
  • Texas readers are a major driver of The Flyover's profitability and growth

A Personal Ask — Texan to Texan

We're in the final days of this investment round.

Before it closes, we're asking Texas readers first:

  • Will you help us take The Texas Flyover to the next level?
  • Will you help deepen coverage, expand reach, and keep Texas news independent?
  • Will you stand with fellow Texans to build the largest statewide source of unbiased, common-sense Texas news in the country?

No corporate spin.
No legacy media bias.
No celebrity journalists chasing clicks.

Just Texas news — written by Texans, for Texans.

If you open The Texas Flyover each morning…
If you believe Texas deserves news built here, not dictated from elsewhere…
If you want to help take 415,000+ Texas readers to 1 million — or more — in 2026…

Your "Property" Is Worth Less Than a Cup of Coffee.

Most timeshares don't appreciate — they depreciate. In fact, many are listed for $1 or less on resale sites. Owners who contact The Stonegate Firm are often stunned to learn their so-called "investment" has no real market value. What was sold as an asset has quietly become a long-term financial liability, draining money year after year with no exit in sight.

Stonegate's proven, attorney-powered timeshare process has helped clients effectively stop the bleeding, cancel their timeshares and eliminate thousands in unwanted fees.

Contracts That Last A Lifetime (And Beyond)

Some timeshare contracts are written to last forever, with no natural end date. That means owners could be responsible for rising fees for life, and in some cases, the burden can even be passed down to their children. Instead of offering flexibility, these contracts trap families in obligations they never expected. What once seemed like a vacation plan quickly turns into a generational financial strain.

With years of proven legal expertise, Stonegate has become a trusted leader in timeshare exits.
