Special Weather Statement issued February 22 at 2:36PM CST by NWS GreenBay

...HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS LIKELY FOR THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE...
At 225 pm, radar and surface weather observations indicated snow across all of central and northern Wisconsin. Across the north, the snow was falling very heavily at times, with snowfall rates often exceeding 1 inch per hour. Little change is expected in these conditions for the next few hours, then the snow will begin to slowly diminish.
Across central and east-central Wisconsin, the precipitation was more showery, with mainly light snow and brief bursts of heavy snow. A little sleet was still occurring in east-central Wisconsin, but that should end in the next hour or so as the precipitation transitions to all snow. A few rumbles of thunder may also accompany the heaviest snows in eastern Wisconsin during the next couple hours.
Roads across the area were generally snow or ice covered and slippery due to the snow and sleet. Temperatures well below freezing were also likely hampering the efforts of highway crews to treat the roads. Hazardous travel conditions are likely to continue into this evening, including for the afternoon commute.
Anyone traveling across the area should allow extra time to reach their destination.
